Comprehensive Eldercare Services

Did You Know...
"We’ve learned that while people usually prepare for career, retirement, and the generation that follows, they do not anticipate caring for a parent.
Few realize the time involved, or the lifestyle changes they will encounter. Instead, people tell themselves that "I’m sure Mom and Dad have that covered." Or, "We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it."
But when adult children suddenly have to cross that bridge,
they look frantically for answers and options.
~ National Council on Aging

KitzWorks helps families find the answers and options for eldercare.  We help you leave behind the frustration and confusion that often comes with caring for someone you love.   Our comprehensive eldercare services helps families and older adults think through all of the issues important to health, financial and legal security when someone you love needs long term care.  Below you’ll find a description of what it will be like to work with KitzWorks.

Services

Consultation and Information Gathering

Your first contact with KitzWorks will probably be by phone. During this call, we discuss what we do in as much detail as you need. If you think our services will be helpful, we will arrange for an initial consultation.

The initial consultation is conducted in the convenience of the older adult’s or family member’s home.   During this consultation KitzWorks will learn about the older person: what are her strengths and needs?  KitzWorks will listen to your family’s goals, learn about your current situation and resources, and learn what has and what has not worked for you to date.

This initial meeting is more than a fact-finding mission. KitzWorks provides as much education as possible about all of your concerns while determining how we can best serve your needs. You will also be able to decide if you are comfortable with us---an important key to the success of the relationship.

Comprehensive Eldercare Planning

Using what we learn during our initial consultation with you, KitzWorks creates a written plan that ties together family values, care services, legal concerns and financing options. This written plan identifies what current support the older adult can benefit from; future care concerns; financial resources needed to pay for services; eligibility requirements for programs; and suggested financial and legal safeguards to consider.  The plan is custom tailored to resolve immediate crises and plan effectively for the future.

Recommendations are made for support services and options that can assist your family; appropriate public benefits are assessed; the family is coached about arranging services; and care concerns and questions are answered.  Examples of support services can include, but are not limited to the following:  in-home assistance; personal care services; transportation assistance; home health care; home-delivered meals; companions; emergency response systems; adult day services; live-in assistance; medical equipment, respite care; home maintenance or refurbishing; social activities; volunteer opportunities; rehabilitation; assisted living facilities; nursing homes; end-of-life support and caregiver support programs.

On-Going Support and Supervision

Frequently family members do not live in the same town as their older family members.  Often adult children or other family members work or have other responsibilities that make it difficult to provide support or monitor the needs of their older loved one.  KitzWorks can provide on-going support and guidance in these situations.  We can routinely visit the older person, monitor and supervise care providers, and provide on-going assessments of any changes in the older person’s needs. Regular communication with concerned family members about the well-being of their loved one is a key element of this service.

Review of Assisted Living Facilities, Residential Homes and Nursing Homes

Sometimes as a matter of choice or of necessity, care for an older person is safer and more appropriate outside of their home.  There are many options for support through a range of residential settings.  The difficulty for many families is deciding which setting or facility is best suited to their loved one’s needs and preferences.  KitzWorks helps families navigate this maze.  We provide objective reviews of residential options, and help walk families through the placement process.  KitzWorks also provides help with the range of emotions older persons may experience as they transition from their previous home to a new setting.

Advocacy

KitzWorks can serve as an exceptional advocate for your loved one and your family with all service providers, particularly with residential facilities.  On behalf of your family, KitzWorks works with long term care providers to assure that your loved one’s needs are met with the highest quality standards.  This service can be especially valuable to an older person who may not have family members living nearby or whose family is bound by other responsibilities that make it difficult to monitor care.

Family Education

Sometimes families have developed their own eldercare strategies, or have been providing on-going care for their loved one, and they would just like to know they are doing it “right.”  While there is rarely a right or wrong way of caring for a loved one, KitzWorks can provide an objective review of the actions a family has taken or the planning they have under way.  KitzWorks provides education and support to family members about aging, eldercare, community resources, public and private benefit programs, insurance, caregiver support, caring from a distance, advocacy in long term care facilities, and much more.

How we are compensated

Our complete focus is on what is best for our clients. KitzWorks does not sell products, and we are paid by our clients, not by hidden commissions from providers or facilities.  We are paid on an hourly basis, and provide the highest quality services and information for a reasonable cost to you.
